Alex Grossfeld is an IATSE Local 600 Camera Operator and Cinematographer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Hailing from Detroit, MI, Alex attended College for Creative Studies and earned a BFA in Live Action. Shortly after graduating, he worked his way up through the ranks of the camera department working on mostly narrative projects. 

    He has worked as Director of Photography on multiple indie features and short films, some of which were official selections at SXSW (Cleansed), LA Shorts (Happy Birthday, Sophia’s Song), Playhouse West Film Festival (Conspiracy Connection, Dinner For Two, Someone I Know, Twelve), Idylwilde Film Festival  (Dating Disasters) and Bilbao (When I Went To Europe). Influences include Chivo, Alfonso Cuaron, Barry Ackroyd, Paul Greengrass, Bradford Young. 

     He also has worked as a Camera Operator on various award-winning TV series such as American Horror Story, American Crime Story and then Good Game by Dan Harmon. Alex has had the pleasure to Operate from some amazing DP’s (Gavin Kelly, Bryce Fortner, Polly Morgan, ASC, BSC, Simon Dennis, and more), but has always been excited and focused on shooting projects himself.

    Alex enjoys the collaboration of the filmmaking process, and uses his organic and raw style, to find the best composition and push the story forward.
